PM Contractor for 3 months (potential for it to be extended):

My client in Denbighshire , north-east Wales are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a STRONG infrastructure background together with an appreciation of wireless project delivery.

The successful candidate will work closely within the PMO approx 3 days per week. Travel to customer sites UK-wide approx 2 days per week to oversee the project and sub-contractors.

Strong understanding of the following is essential:

  • Site Surveys
  • Structured Cabling, WiFi, LAN, WAN, MPLS and Leased Line project delivery
  • Change Control, Risk Management
  • Comprehensive commercial skills with an understanding of quantity surveying advantageous

Responsible for:

  • Defining, shaping and leading projects, which can be of a large and/or strategic and/or complex nature.
  • Maximising revenue and margin in project delivery by optimising delivery costs and sub-contract/3 rd party resource.
  • P&L ensuring all projects are delivered within budget and specification and to exceed profitability and deadlines.
  • Project Design Workshops and Project Initiation
  • Running projects adopting processes and procedures and accepted best practices including Prince2, and ensuring the project team do so too.
  • Producing Method Statement and Risk Assessments
  • Ensuring skilled resource in accordance project demands.
  • Undertake contract negotiation including variations as required.
  • Manage vendor and 3 rd party support contracts.
  • Monitoring, and reporting on, the overall profitability of the project and to attend contract reviews as required.
  • Escalating promptly any issues that may in future have an impact on the client or the future relationship with the customer.
  • Ownership of QHSE deliverables in line with ISO and IOSH requirements.
  • Ownership of CDM deliverables in line with legislation.
  • Working closely with management to develop and enhance service offerings .

The successful candidate will be extremely driven, inspiring, and credible with a desire to win. Additionally, they must be IT literate and have a minimum 5 GCSE's, be Prince2/Agile/other project management qualification or other industry standard qualification. You may be required to travel and work long unsociable hours to meet project/customer delivery. The following behaviours, attributes and skills are essential: -

  • Demonstrable financial understanding including P&L management
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project
  • Customer service and relationship building
  • Be a good negotiator, influencer with the ability to meet deadlines and be SLA driven
  • Strong commercial, QS and technical awareness
