Retail Business Technology Expo 2017

Myself and my colleagues, Lauren, Nick and Luke, were lucky enough to travel down to London for the Retail Business Technology Expo 2017 early last week. Having visited a number of technology focused exhibitions in the past, the thing that stood out to us about RBTE was the positive vibe across the floor. The event was buzzing with excitement and we got to see enterprise manufacturers alongside niche SME’s showing off their new technology - all focused on streamlining time and money for customers and making the buying process easier and more efficient!

We were absolutely blown away by robots, AI, drones and many other types of data-gathering inventions allowing retailers to collect data around buying needs. A big trend that came through during the event was Cloud technology, this offers greater payment/omni-channel security and peace of mind for customers to make their buying journey even more streamlined.

We all put our heads together and discussed the type of skills needed to support this technology transformation from a recruitment perspective. From Solution Design, Architecture and Integration to Business Intelligence to Project Management and Big Data/IOT; and even Software Development & Testing – new skills will be a necessity to sustain these exciting changes across the retail landscape. 

Myself and the team work with a number of retailers, solution providers and managed services organisations within the retail sector and have helped clients overcome the battle for talent. Most of the clients we now work with had experienced difficulty in finding a recruitment partner to do this, some have even proceeded with hiring internal recruitment teams.
